Most people can probably disregard this post. This is an issue I ran into with Samba retrieving user group assignements today. After Googling for the error I found plenty of posts where people were experiencing this problem but I didn’t find anyone who had posted a resolution. I’m not sure if or where this will show up in the Google results when searching for this error but hopefully this information will help someone. Anyway, if you run into an issue with Samba and wbinfo where you can query domain users and groups but you get an error stating ‘could not get groups for user’, check your smb.conf file and change ‘set client use spnego = no’ to ‘set client use spnego = yes’. At least that’s what worked for me.
